First Day of School

Monday was the first day of school for Lolly and Bones. We always walk on the first day of school. Grandpa Ric drives them most other days. Excitement was very high at our house this morning.

I have always sent a bag of school supplies for the teacher on the first day of school. Brady was very excited to give Mrs. Winegar her bag of kleenex, glue sticks, paper towels, lysol wipes, and hand sanitizer.

Here is Lolly walking into class.
It was a fun morning!!

The picture doesn't do it justice!!

Okay, against my better judgement I'm going to post this picture.
Yesterday I cleaned out the fridge. It needed it BADLY!! We had several science projects going for sure.
I took everything out, even shelves, and wiped everything down first with bleach water, then with ammonia water. I reloaded everything edible into the fridge. I noticed that there were three bottles of mustard so I decided to consolidate. I got the first bottle squeezed in no problem. Then I started on the second bottle and it was clogged. So I squeezed a little harder, then harder, then it exploded. It really did. The bottle top shot off and the neck split. Mustard went everywhere. Now you can see some of the mess in this picture. What you can't see is mustard on the floor, the walls, the dog dish, the carpet clear over by the pantry, the dishwasher, every shelf inside the fridge, the cupboards, the entire left side of my body, and yes, even the ceiling!!! My legs my arms, my face, my hair. It was so quick, and such a huge mess that I just sat there for a minute in shock!! I called to Lolly and asked her to bring the camera and when she saw me you could see her thinking, "I'm so glad that isn't me, I would've been so busted."
Well, I had a good laugh and then proceeded to empty the fridge, and clean it all over again. First with bleach water, then with.................................
Last night at book club I crossed my leg as I was sitting and what did I see all over my ankle and up the side of my leg? MUSTARD!!!

Sleeping out

It took a week but we finally set the tent up to wash it after Bear Lake.
The kids and I decided to "camp" in it Wednesday night. We had a good time.
We watched a movie and then giggled and laughed until we couldn't stay awake.
It was fun.
Notice my luxury bed with sheets and everything!!

Bear Lake

We had such a great time at Bear Lake. We spent Friday through Tuesday there with Jeff and Alyssa Hertzler and Matt and Demaree Hill came until Sunday. It was a lot of fun. I love Bear Lake. We're actually heading back there for Labor Day.
We pulled in to the KOA around 5 Friday evening. As I was getting hot dogs ready for our family Alyssa came back from the bathroom and informed us that there was ceramic tile and granite counters in the bathroom!! How funny.
We got up Sunday morning and had a pancake breakfast. Then we headed to the lake and stayed all day!!! It was so fun. I probably logged about four hours in the water. Matt was in there even more than me, and I don't think Brady ever came out of the water except for lunch. It was so much fun. Everyone got do just sort of do their thing. I played a few hands of skip-bo with Dem, visited with Alyssa, swam with the kids (and Matt). Oh yeah and we had a chicken fight when Jeff came in the water. Jeff is the reigning amp.
We had delicous taco soup for dinner that night from the Hertzlers. That was the perfect dinner after a day of swimming. Oh, and Demaree made yummy cobbler and we all sleep ate because we were so wiped out!
We started bringing our portable DVD player with us camping last year. It is the best thing for bedtime with the kids. They just settle in to watch a movie and totally crash.
This year Nat and Lol had their own tent. They had a ball. They are getting so grown up.
Sunday morning the Hills made dutch oven breakfast and it was yummy. Brady even ate his and liked it!! I couldn't believe it! The Hills packed up and we were SOOO sad to see them go!
Der and Jeff took the kids swimming and they had a great time. Then they played in the game room for a while. There was a ping pong table...enough said!
After lunch our little family decided to contain the kids in the car for a while so we went for a ride. We drove down to Laketown and checked out cemetery there. We played cemetery games for a while (find the earliest bday or most recent deathday, longest/shortest last name.) The kids love to do that. We saw this cool headstone. The saying says "I'd rather see the boys have a new baseball field than have a new automobile for myself." We thought that was real cool!
We also saw the world coolest tree house!!!
Then we stopped and had ice cream and shakes. By then the kids were ready to head back to camp. It was a nice ride.
We had burgers for dinner! I sauteed some onions too and that was the best burger I had ever eaten!!! I highly recommend the sirloin patties from Costco. You'll never go back I swear!
Sunday afternoon some clouds and winds roared in. We closed up camp fairly early, but the four of us visited for a while.
Monday morning the Hertzlers made french toast. Good stuff! Then the Dad's took the kids to play miniature golf. It was a fun day. We took off for a ride with the kids again this afternoon. Brady was asleep before we even pulled out of the KOA. We took a 45-mile ride around the lake. It was so nice. Der snoozed and the kids watched a movie. I just love that ride. We drove past the cabin we used to come to every summer. Then we stopped at Garden City Park to do the boardwalk to the lake. It was fun. We pulled out the sand toys and played at the playground for a while. Der and Bones tossed the Frisbee around too.

We came back to camp and Jeff was still feeling pretty crummy.

We reheated left overs of taco soup and burgers for dinner. Everyone was feeling pretty tired, but we had promised s'mores so we built a fire. The first one of the trip!!

I love this picture of Danny. Yum, yum!!!

This is our campsite, yes four tents!!! We had a good set-up going don't you think?

Tuesday morning we awoke to thunder and gray clouds. Needless to say we rushed to break camp but still ended up tearing down tents in the pouring rain. We said real quick goodbyes and headed out.

We drove home through Wyoming and had a nice picnic breakfast at a park in Evanston. We ust pulled the cereal and milk out and had a nice break.

We detoured through Peoa and Derek gave us the grand tour of where he spent three or four years of his childhood. It was fun.

We arrived home around 1 in the afternoon and unpacked. Then we relaxed!!

It was a fun trip. Bear Lake is the best!!
