I dun rode my bike to Wendover!!

Figuratively speaking that is!! In my ever-present quest to lose the dang weight, I rode 99.4 miles this week on my favorite recumbent bike at the gym!! A serious milestone for me. One of the days had me riding 22 miles and another day 26 miles and yet another at 25 miles (two workouts each day.) The other three days I rode between 8 and 12 miles. I'm looking forward to getting more weight off so I can tackle a spinning class. I think I could love being a "spinster" just as much as a "yogaler." I'm not looking forward to that sliver of a thing they call a seat on those bikes though!! Yikes! Has anyone ever brought there own granny seat to a spinning class? You know, the kind with the lambswool covering for added comfort? Just curious. My mom claims that I'm becoming an exercise addict. This could be true. I love going to the gym. I just wished I looked better while I was there. However, I have the attitude that if you're ever going to look out of shape and sloppy some where, the gym is the place to be. I feel like you're sending the statement, "I know!! I'm working on it!!"

The Last Lecture

This is one of the most delightful books I have ever read. I feel like Randy Pausch is a personal friend. Please take the time to read it. I feel like it should be required reading (and re-reading) for 12 and older. Check out the web site at www.thelastlecture.com. As inspiring for me personally as the scriptures!

My Sweetheart is 37!!

Derek celebrated 37 years on February 23. Boy am I glad that this kid was born!!!!!
When I first saw Derek 15 years ago I had come late into Sacrament meeting. I noticed him right away and asked my mom who he was.
After RS I was folding up chairs and he came in and helped. What was I to do but ask him on a date!! We went out the following weekend with Brbara Langford and Kelly Jepsen (now married!) We went and saw "Legacy" and then to dinner at Dee's family restaurant. Then we went back to my house and watched some of a movie.
Well eight weeks passed and he finally asked me out again and the rest, as you say, is history. Two months later we were engaged. Then four months later we were married. Then eleven months later we had a baby girl. Then 16 months later we bought our house. Then two months later we had anpther baby girl and on the story goes.
It's been 15 years. We have a studious teenager, a smart and ditsy pre-teen, and two sweet and handsome boys. We've owned nine vehicles. We're on our secong daog. We have a bird. I've had four surgeries, and two sprains. Derek has had two surgeries, two sprains, and a broken foot. Natalie has had a week in the hospital, a minor surgery, and three sprains. Laurel has had a week in the hospital, and surgery with a two day stay. Brady has been generally healthy. Danny has had one break.
During our 15 years we have both lost a Grandmother. We also lost Derek's Uncle and Aunt.
There have been four prophets and three presidents.
Being married to Derek is EASY!! He is my best friend and we do a lot of laughing. Having children and being parents has been EASY!!! It is so fun to be a family. Being members of the church is EASY! Financiall we have struggled our fair share. Oh well, it's only money!
Derek's makes life easy. I have learned so much from him. He loves everybody! He is so faithful. He will do anything for you, or me. He loves to serve and shows that greatly as he serves our family.
It doesn't hurt that he is so dang good looking!!! Lucky me!!
He loves his folks. He wants to be a good son and works hatd to make them proud of him. It's very important to him that his parents can be proud of his choices and the man others see. He is proud of his ancestry.
I am the luckiest girl!
Happy birthday Mr. Wonderful!!

A few tidbits

Our first Cub Scout!! Brady had his first pack meeting since becoming a scout in November. He has woked tirelessly on his bobcat and was all set to be presented with it but someone dropped the ball and he should be getting it this month. Dang it!! My folks came to see him presented with his first scouting award and, instead, got a healthy dose of the chaos that is our ward!! He loves scouts and I think he looks so handsome in his uniform!
Later in February we went to dinner with Kelly and Barbara (Langford) Jepsen. That is always so fun as Kelly has us laughing our heads off within the first 5 minutes!! Useless trivia: When Der and I went on our very first date 15 years ago we doubled with Barbara and Kelly (we were all seniors except the 22 year old Derek!) They are seriously two of the greatest people. They have been amazing friends too!! We love them!
On February 23 my sweetheart turned 37 years old!!! Whoa! I think I'll give him his own post in a minute. There is so much to say about this wonderful man!!!
Natalie's basketball season has ended and she is gearing up for track next month! I love track meets and I think this will be a fun sport to watch her participate in.
